Hottest year ever update: Colorado Basin snowpack 180 percent of average

Skiers scramble to get season passes
Recent storms also helped boost the state's snowpack which is already much higher than where it was this time last year. Loveland Ski Area Spokesperson John Sellers says it's giving skiers much better skiing.

In fact, when it comes to the cold and snow, late October has brought a lot of both to Colorado, where the state snowpack is now about 140 percent of average, or 40 percent above the norm.

In the Colorado Basin, where many Front Range ski areas are located, the snowpack is around 180 percent, and even higher to the north, making the late October mountains look more like late December.
