While at Palomar, Kenney went into Professor Zahra Samir's Arabic 101A class to recruit, and not all students were impressed.

"In a place where we're educating people and someone comes in and says 'this is what we're about, sign this, when we can't research the issue or discuss it, it's a disservice to students because it teaches them to be followers, not leaders," said anthropology major Shawn Wageman.

"This is the time to start making the shift to clean energy. The dust and particulates that are dumped into the air as a product of making fuel is killing us and the ocean around us," Tadd said.

Opposition to Prop. 23 includes the American Lung Association, the American Association of Pediatrics and AARP.
