In the press release announcing her assuming the directorship of 1Sky, the incoming director, Liz Butler, wrote about all of the above and ended with: “But this isn’t the time to give up – it’s time to fight back.” I’m thinking I wish I was having a ‘I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it any more’ moment, but all I can think about is that it really sucks to care about the environment right now.

Speaking in San Francisco, Schwarzenegger characterized Proposition 23 as a battle between out-of-state oil interests and environmental progress.
"Now, there's some Texan oil companies, they don't like our environmental laws," the Republican governor told the audience at the Willie L. Brown Jr. Institute annual breakfast. "And so I want to ask all of you to do everything you can to make everyone vote 'no' on this proposition."

According to IPCC officials, negotiations last week were cumbersome and tainted by the looming issue of the future of the group's controversial chairman. "Delegates avoided talking about Pachauri's role," says Edenhofer. Insiders say that fear of provoking a confrontation between the IPCC's rich and poor member countries may have made the delegates reluctant to discuss the fate of Pachauri, who is from India.
