Carbon tax | Xstrata will not advise Gillard government

As differences appeared yesterday between the Greens and the government over the best way to price carbon, it emerged that the coalmining giant Xstrata had not been invited to advise the government.

Xstrata was one of the fiercest critics of the original mining tax and fell foul of the government. But a government source said the company was not being punished. ''There just isn't room for everyone,'' the source said.
