Cancun’s climate change conference « Robert Kyriakides’s Weblog
We saw at Copenhagen, as I then predicted, that no real “deal” on preventing climate change would be reached and I cannot see what possible genuine anti climate change measures which are enforceable will come out of the meeting in Cancun. The major polluters are for their own selfish reasons not persuaded that the long term of the planet is worth saving and are concentrating their efforts on increasing short term prosperity.

Therefore the best carbon emission saving solution would be for the conference in Cancun to be held by video technology, thus saving a great deal of expense and emissions. I doubt that this will ever happen; after all the politicians and journalists are quite happy to suffer the rigours of Cancun in the Northern hemisphere’s winter [But won't they get asthma and kidney stones?] for the sake of reprting the conference to us, albeit that there will be nothing to report.
UK’s leading climate sceptic admits he's driven by "ideological war" | Left Foot Forward
It is against this backdrop that one of Britain’s most prominent climate change ‘sceptics’ has admitted he’s driven by “ideological war”. Many of you will be familiar with James Delingpole, seen here with our prime minister in a former life. He now writes regularly for The Daily Telegraph and The Spectator.
...
This is just the latest illustration of how the ‘climate change denial’ netroots is being motivated not by any real scientific questions but by right wing political ideology. Earlier this year Left Foot Forward exposed how the man who is perhaps the world’s most influential climate sceptic, Anthony Watts, was tweeting links to the neo-nazi British National Party.

Brenda Ekwurzel, Ph.D.: Want to Stand Up for Climate [Junk] Science? We're Doing It
My organization, the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS), has been engaged in the sometimes bruising intersection of science, the media and policymaking for decades. And we've stepped up our work on climate science communication this year, largely in response to a significant uptick in attacks on the field. While the evidence for climate change has steadily mounted over the last few years, the push back by many oil and coal interests and the think tanks and politicians they bankroll has become ever more shrill, polluting the debate with misinformation and outright lies. The news media, unfortunately, has sometimes been an enabler, providing a forum for polluting industries' multimillion-dollar disinformation campaign, which mirrors the tobacco industry's successful campaign to sow public confusion about the link between smoking and cancer.
