Inhofe may skip Cancun climate confab - POLITICO.com Print View
Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) said he would be willing for the second year in a row to crash the party and parachute in and out of a U.N. climate change summit. The problem this time, he said, is that nobody’s paying attention.

“The only problem with that is there’s nobody there,” Inhofe told POLITICO, referring to the talks that began this week in Cancun.
...
Inhofe spent maybe three hours at most at last year’s summit in Copenhagen, arriving just long enough to hold an impromptu morning press conference in the media center before flying back for votes that evening. “That was probably the most enjoyable two-and-half hours I’ve ever spent,” Inhofe said. “Because I was able to come in right behind President Obama, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry and able to successfully refute everything they said.”

“We counted a hundred cameras at one time and all the people,” Inhofe added, referring to the give-and-take with an at-times hostile international contingent of reporters in Copenhagen. One reporter from Der Spiegel went so far as to simply tell Inhofe during the press gaggle, “That’s ridiculous. You’re ridiculous.”

“The only thing they all had in common was they all hated me,” Inhofe reminisced.
