Weather bureau reports record low number of typhoons in 2010 - CNA ENGLISH NEWS

Taipei, Dec. 29 (CNA) Only 14 typhoons formed in the northwestern Pacific Ocean in 2010, the lowest number since the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) began keeping typhoon records in 1958, a meteorologist said Wednesday.

"The figure shattered all previous records, including the record low of 17 in 1998, " said Lin Hsiu-wen, deputy director of the CWB's Weather Forecast Center.
