Climate change to cause [AIDS] in 2011  | Thai Financial Post

BANGKOK, 17 January 2011 - The Epidemiology Bureau under the supervision of the Department of Disease Control has warned the public of many serious diseases resulted from the current climate volatility, which might endanger people’s health in 2011.

According to Epidemiology Bureau Director MD Pasakorn Akarasewi, the diseases can be classified into both communicable and non-communicable. Climate volatility and global warming were to blame for those diseases and could help them spread easier.

The important communicable diseases that should be monitored include influenza, dengue fever, HIV/AIDS, Multi-drug Resistant Tuberculosis (MDR-TB), leptospirosis, rabies, opisthorchiasis and cholangiocarcinoma.
