Environmentalists dive into icy waters of Potomac River
Water temperatures in the low 30s Saturday didn't prevent hundreds of environmentalists from trying to raise awareness about global warming by taking a dip in the icy Potomac River.

"We thought this is a very appropriate cause for a bear plunge," said Ted Glick, Chesapeake Climate Action Network policy director. "Polar bears are facing extinction because their homeland is melting away."

"This event is definitely media exposure so that people wonder, "It's so cold, why are those people jumping in the water?' And we tell them it's because of climate change and they ask, ‘Well, what's climate change? And why do they believe in it?'" Drury said.
