Heavy Early Snow Brings Healthy Snowpack - News Story - KTVZ Bend
BEND, Ore. -- The early snowfall that has delighted skiers and made High Desert roads slick also has given Central Oregon’s Cascade snowpack a healthy early-season boost that likely sets the stage for a good water supply next summer, a surveyor said Monday.

In fact, Oregon’s snowpack overall is 27 percent higher than the 30-year average, in terms of snow-water equivalent, the term used for the amount of water the snow would generate, said Ryan Miebach, a soil scientist with the Natural Resources Conservation Service in Redmond.

Taylor went on to say that those who espouse the global warming line often point to the snowpack levels. He said a Washington climatologist was fired over climate issues that were not politically correct regarding snowpack levels and left sided concerns. Taylor said there are cyclical periods of La Nina and El Nino which effect snowpack levels.

But the primary contributing causes certainly must include the city's failure to clear the streets so the mother could reach the hospital in time.

The responsibility for that ultimately rests with the man who so often extols the magic of management, Mayor Bloomberg.

He must have been unaware of the magnitude of the city's failure when a reporter asked if he had any regrets.

"I regret the whole world," he said sarcastically, his words indelible.
