When "Ian" suggests that "civilization is imploding" because of CO2, left-winger Andy Revkin takes him seriously

Young Activists Seek Roles on Energy, Climate - NYTimes.com
A comment contributor in this weekend’s open discussion over at Climate Progress is seeking help. He describes himself, essentially, as an aspiring, yet despairing, young energy and climate activist who still hopes to make a difference despite his conviction that “civilization is imploding.”

“Ian” muses on fence chaining, canvassing, politics and personal carbon cutting but essentially rejects those options as he broaches them. (And he’s right to note their deep limitations!).

Joe Romm and I disagree on many issues, including how to filter blog commentary, but I’m happy to help build and broaden discussions of this sort when they occur.
...
I would love to see Ian, Athena, Brigid and others weigh in here, as well, and/or anyone else seeking a role in the global energy quest that’d be required for a smooth human journey in the next half century or so.
