Army investigators said last week there were "very strong indicators" that Pool’s death was accidental and related to a fall. His body was found in a wooded area at Fort Bragg.

His widow, Linda, in a statement, said her husband walked with the use of a cane, fell and injured himself and died of hypothermia.

The woman was suffering from hypothermia, but was still alive, Reesby said. He also said there were no apparent signs of trauma. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
