In the areas that they did consider, the group found that northern Europe would fare best: it might see a 52% boost in agriculture because of the warmer weather; thousands of people might be spared river floods as a result of reduced spring snow melt; and 25% more tourists might flock to its shores. Throughout Europe, the expected decrease in deaths thanks to warmer winters could outweigh the increase from summer heatwaves, the group concludes.
