"Climate change projections call for more intense and frequent coastal storms and rising sea levels," Griggs said. "One question we are asking a lot is how high might it rise."

Leslie Rosen of Aptos, a member of the institute, called the talk exceptional.
"It's really scary," she said. "I'm 80, but I'm worried about my children and grandchildren. I don't think people realize the urgency of this issue."
