800 Motorists Rescued After US Blizzard | General News | Peacefmonline.com
RESCUE workers used military trucks and other heavy vehicles to pluck motorists from more than 500 vehicles abandoned along ice-slicked roads and in drifting snow throughout North Dakota and take them to churches, schools, bars and gas stations that became makeshift shelters.

About 800 people were rescued starting on Friday afternoon, and most remained at shelters on Saturday as highways remained closed.

Brooks supplies a five-gallon bucket. His clients fill the bucket with biodegradable refuse like kitchen scraps, paper, coffee grounds, and even meat.

(Dairy products are not accepted.) Brooks makes his rounds on foot, his bicycle, and on the T, replacing full buckets with empty ones. Despite the bitter cold and multiple blizzards of this past winter, Brooks said that the weather only stopped him on one day.
