Keneally hit on climate tax during forum
NSW Premier Kristina Keneally left the forum stage for the audience floor, Tony Abbott style, and for much of her allotted hour breezily addressed the crowd of potential votes.
But the federal carbon tax again became caused her problems, with the premier clashing repeatedly with one member of the audience at Wednesday night's People's Forum in Sydney's southwest.
...
But it was a clash with questioner Rob over Ms Keneally's support for the federal government's carbon tax that heated up her 60 minutes at the microphone.
Asked what impact the tax would have on global temperatures and emissions, Ms Keneally replied she was not a scientist so she could not give an answer.
"But what I can tell you is that every bit of scientific evidence tells us that climate change is real, that global warning is a challenge and that we're going to live in a carbon-constrained future," she said.
Her questioner responded angrily: "The science is not settled ... At the end of the day you cannot tell us how much we will reduce emissions by."
The premier tried to placate Rob by saying they would have to "disagree on the science" as there were "so many variables in that question it is not possible to give you a degree level".
