Juarez, where I boarded the train 40 years earlier, recorded an even zero Fahrenheit, a full 5F colder than the previous low in 1956.  Chihuahua maintained its status as Mexico's coldest major city with a low of -18.5C (-1F), beating all previous records by at least 4 degrees F
