Deniers: North Carolina residents are giddy about the arrival of warm weather; nobody even mentions allegedly increased risk of dengue fever and kidney stones

If you’re tired of winter, here’s good news: today is the first day of spring and it should be beautiful, according to area forecasters.

“Oh, I’m so glad to hear it’s finally spring,” she said, adding that she visits the flea mall every weekend year round, but there are more vendors and more food in the warmer months.

Mason said this winter was the worst she could remember in several decades.

But more importantly, spring means warmer, longer days and saying “goodbye” to Old Man Winter.

“I’m glad it’s spring. I’m tired of cold weather,” said Thomas Marsh who was enjoying the warm Saturday afternoon in downtown Swansboro and walking his dog, a Pomeranian that seemed to like the warmer temperatures too, but didn’t comment.
