Carbon tax needs faith says Gillard
A carbon price would kick-start Australia's "journey of transformation" towards a low carbon economy where new technologies and job opportunities awaited.
She likened it to how Google or Facebook changed the world.
Ms Gillard attacked the coalition for clouding the climate change debate with denials and fear-mongering.
"(Opposition Leader Tony) Abbott wants us to believe that Australians are incapable of such change - I don't share his basic lack of faith in the Australian people," she said.
