High-cost 'renewables' will kill economy - The Santa Fe New Mexican
The surest sign that a product or service is not viable in the marketplace is that taxpayer dollars or government regulations are required. Such is the case with so-called "renewable" energy: Antiquated technologies such as windmills, solar panels and burning crop waste couldn't meet the massive, ever-increasing energy demands of a century ago, much less today. But because the political class favored these romanticized-but-meager generators, they have been forced back into the electricity mix, with much of the public unaware of the backroom machinations that brought them about.

Perhaps the most insidious aspect of these schemes is that the added costs for renewables are hidden in our electric bills. Unlike the monthly tab from your telephone company, which identifies additional charges for taxes and 911 systems, the costs due to government-mandated alternative energy are mostly lumped with everything else. It's a hidden tax.
