It's carbon price D-Day, warns Gillard | Herald Sun

A DEFIANT Julia Gillard says it's now or never for Australia to put a price on pollution.

Stepping up her campaign for carbon tax to start in July next year, the Prime Minister last night vowed to push ahead "no matter what the personal price".

With Labor's support and her own approval both at record lows in opinion polls, Ms Gillard made a Paul Keating-style declaration "this is the debate the nation needs to have".

"No opinion poll can change the fact that climate change is real," she said.

Ms Gillard said temperatures were increasing and without action to cut pollution Australia would face severe consequences.
