The President’s Wacky Oil Plan
To recap the madcap: First, the President mocked “Drill, Baby, Drill.” Then, he recommended “finding and producing more oil at home,” which is synonymous with “Drill, Baby, Drill.” Finally, he pitched a plan that is in fact political cover for his Administration’s de facto moratorium on domestic energy production.
Solar could save Minnesota schools millions | Grist
Currently, Minnesota's public schools spend approximately $84 million per year on electricity costs, money diverted from the classroom. But a bill to make clean, local energy accessible now (CLEAN) could help the state’s public schools use solar to zero out their electricity bills and add $193 million per year to their operating budgets.
[Question: Let's say you live in Minnesota, and you have snow cover for 129 days in a row.  Who is in charge of keeping all of the solar panels snow-free?]
Today marks day 129 in a row that St. Cloud has seen at least an inch of snow on the ground. That is now the 10th longest streak with continuous snow cover (that's 4 months....oy!), the most recent being 2001-2002 (146 days, the most ever) and 1996-1997 (133 days). The last year that the consecutive streak ended in April was in 2001-2002. The snow cover also didn't melt until April in 1997 and 2001.
