Winter blast compounds crisis for half a million homeless
JAPAN'S tsunami-ravaged coast has now been hit by an unseasonally late snow dump, compounding the deprivations for 550,000 homeless survivors and millions more who are living without adequate supplies and services.

Yesterday morning, a line outside a central Sendai supermarket stretched for 700 metres, three people wide, in freezing temperatures and bucketing snow, waiting for the doors to open.
