Canadian participation in Earth Hour drops
Despite widespread campaigns to promote Earth Hour, Canadian participation in the global event has decreased in each of the last three years, according to a new poll.

The Ipsos Reid poll, conducted for Postmedia News, showed that 44 per cent of Canadians took part this year in the annual event led by the World Wildlife Fund, which aims to have cities and towns all over the world go dark for one hour. That's down from 60 per cent in 2009 and 47 per cent last year.
...
Harry McCaughey, a climate-change expert who works in the faculties of geography and environmental studies at Queen's University in Kingston, Ont., said the participation decline was "sad," and said it reflects Canada's dedication to serious environmental issues.
Light It Up Blue
On the evenings of April 1 and 2, 2011, prominent buildings across North America and the world — including the Empire State Building in New York City and the CN Tower in Toronto, Canada — will turn their lights blue to raise awareness for autism and to commemorate World Autism Awareness Day on Saturday, April 2.

We’re aiming to light the world blue all throughout April — city by city, town by town — by taking action to raise autism awareness in our communities.
