PROFESSOR ROSS GARNAUT, GOVERNMENT CLIMATE CHANGE ADVISOR: The discussion’s got a long way to go, Jenny and what we have just heard is very sad. The mainstream science, the people who have spent their lives studying climate change, are very strongly of the view that global warming is real, that humans are making a substantial contribution to it and that if we don’t do something about it, we will seriously destabilise the whole basis of our way of life.A Skeptic's Guide to the Greenhouse Effect: The Lindzen Effect
It’s just so sad that that lady who is obviously a very sincere lady has been misled in this way. The science is quite clear, there’s a way of dealing with it that won’t lead anyone to be poorer. The money does not disappear when there’s a price on carbon and the Government said it is going to be given back in substantial amounts to households. I have recommended that enough be given back so that low and middle-income earners won’t lose anything at all.
In summary, it seems as if anything goes in climate science as long as you don't deny THE effect. The true nature of this effect, however, is only known to a few people. It is even ok as a physicist to publish articles which contradict THE effect as long as you don't explicitly deny THE effect, that is, point out to the audience that don't know what THE effect is that your claims are in contradiction to THE effect. This state of affairs I think could be christened the Lindzen Effect.NC Media Watch: Prop 23 Update: Governor Brown, "we can get to 40" renewables
Given Europes misserable experience with wind and solar, one has to ask why is California plunging ahead by mandating even more renewable enegy? What makes the legislature and the governor think that California can do it better, when other socialist governments have failed?
