Harvey slams 'illogical' tax
THE retail mogul Gerry Harvey has waded into the carbon tax debate, saying the proposed policy is a direct threat to the competitiveness of local industry, and questioning the longevity of household compensation that would be vital in propping up family budgets and consumer spending.

Mr Harvey, founder and executive chairman of the furniture, electrical and bedding company Harvey Norman, said such a tax would be an added strain on business. It would give Australia a moral victory but leave it disadvantaged, he believes.
