Flooding historically in Queensland has occurred in strong La Ninas in cold PDO years, conditions occurring this year. A similar major flood occurred in 1974, a strong La Nina winter in the 1947-1977 cold PDO phase.

THE federal government will accelerate cuts to subsidies for household solar panels from July, phasing them out a year earlier than scheduled.
