Generators say risk of crisis ignored | The Australian
THE electricity industry has reacted with fury to findings by the government's climate change adviser Ross Garnaut that there is "negligible risk" to the power supply from a carbon tax.

TRUenergy chief executive Richard McIndoe described Professor Garnaut's assertion as "foolish" and said he had ignored reports warning that coal-fired generators could face a financial crisis if a tax was introduced.
...
Jim Kouts, International Power Australia's group manager, corporate affairs, said Professor Garnaut had demonstrated a lack of "commercial reality" and understanding of how the national electricity market worked.
...
He said Professor Garnaut had glibly suggested that a carbon tax of $26 on electricity generators would be simply passed through to consumers.
