Sky News: PM slips up on carbon compensation
Prime Minister Julia Gillard has been forced to backpedal from a promise that seven million Australian households won't be worse off under Labor's carbon tax.
Ms Gillard on Tuesday told ABC Television that 'seven million Australian households won't see a cent lost through carbon pricing'.
But when asked about that pledge her office was quick to clarify.
A spokesman said that Ms Gillard meant to say that of the nine out of 10 households to receive assistance, the 'vast majority' wouldn't be out of pocket.
