Al's Journal : Buying Legislation
Bloomberg had a fascinating article last week about how climate deniers like the Koch brothers and oil companies such as Exxon buy legislation:2008: Gore Launches Ambitious Advocacy Campaign on Climate...“The corporations, both ALEC members, took a seat at the legislative drafting table beside elected officials and policy analysts by paying a fee between $3,000 and $10,000, according to documents obtained by Bloomberg News.”
Former vice president Al Gore will launch a three-year, $300 million campaign Wednesday aimed at mobilizing Americans to push for aggressive reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, a move that ranks as one of the most ambitious and costly public advocacy campaigns in U.S. history.
