QUEENSLAND'S struggling tourism industry won't be damaged by the federal government's carbon pricing scheme, the prime minister says.

Julia Gillard, who was today doing the talkback radio rounds to sell her government's carbon price package, admitted some price increases were inevitable in tourism as airlines passed on the higher cost of fuel.

But she insisted her government's compensation package would more than make up for more expensive airline tickets.
