Lunacy in carbon tax detail
THE single craziest aspect of Julia-in-Wonderland's carbon (dioxide) tax lunacy is that it actually aims to have us paying perhaps $4 billion a year to foreigners just for the right to keep our lights on.

We wouldn't actually get anything tangible for the $4 billion - that's around $170 for every Australian, $680 a year for a family of four. Just the `right' to keep producing electricity from our coal-fired power stations.

That's right, we'd be shipping $4 billion off overseas each year in return for nothing more than a book entry.

“I think one of the reasons why the Prime Minister didn't want to announce this in a sitting week is because she didn't want to face the Caucus.”
