Overheated planet update: Glacier National Park's Going to the Sun Road set to open very late again

Season off to slow start in Glacier | Great Falls Tribune | greatfallstribune.com
Blame it on the snow, the closed Sun Road or the unseasonably cold weather, but Glacier National Park has had a slow start to its tourism season.
...
Crews are still working to plow the alpine section of the Going to the Sun Road, and it appears that the road this year will have its latest opening in recent history.

Other than 1933 when the road first opened and 1943 when staffing was reduced due to World War II, the latest the Sun Road has opened was in 2008, when it opened on July 2 after a mid-June storm dumped 2 to 3 feet of snow.

Glacier officials haven't predicted when the road will open in its entirety this year, but they don't expect to have it plowed by the 4th of July.
