Daryl Hannah joins tar sands protest | Grist
It can be mildly annoying when movie stars get activist, because it usually just means looking sincere while wearing the ribbon color of the day... Hannah will be going to the protest in "a couple days" and says she might need bail money.
THE HOCKEY SCHTICK: New paper shows no change in Bering Sea Ice over past 30 years, predicts increased marine production
A paper published last week in the Journal of Geophysical Research finds that contrary to alarmist predictions, sea ice extent has not changed in the Bering Sea over the satellite era, which began in 1979. The trend in the graph below actually shows an increase, but may not be statistically significant. The paper predicts that warming of the Bering Sea would cause one of the world's most productive marine environments to further increase production.
