German energy policy: "Dumping billions into the least effective technology"
The German economy has been booming lately, but there are already signs of a cooling down. When the tax payers begin to feel the effects of an economic slowdown, they will also realize how unrealistic - and downright stupid - the Merkel government´s energy decisions are.

With construction of new coal plants being blocked across America -- and states like Washington phasing out coal -- the export market beckons, and particularly China.

"The markets (for Powder River Basin coal) nationally are questionable, but it's unquestionable the demand that exists overseas -- a wide variety of countries and into the foreseeable future," Bud Clinch, executive director of the Montana Coal Council, noted not long ago.

"The impacts of the Gateway Pacific Terminal are not confined to Bellingham: Seattle would experience nine 1.5-mile-long trains of coal every day through our waterfront, with potentially significant impacts on traffic, air quality and water quality," Mayor Mike McGinn warned in a July 18 statement.

Actually, nine trains full of coal and another nine trains returning empty.
