An Ice Expert Muses on Greenhouse Heat - NYTimes.com
Ignatius G. Rigor, a ocean, ice and climate researcher at the University of Washington, has long been on my go-to list when grappling with studies of sea ice and climate.[Rigor] Yes, regime shifts, death and extinctions are part of the natural cycles, but when these events come unnaturally we apply different terms for these events, e.g. murder, genocide. (I was not sure how to state this without being overly dramatic.)
This reminds me of the demise of the dinosaurs and rise of mammals. Yes, some form of Earth will survive, but we need to make a value judgement. Do we want to be responsible for some possibly cataclysmic changes in species and societies?
