It's been asked over and over, but when will the NYT actually start asking real questions of wind and solar energies? Like where the rare earth materials in the windmill motors come from and how the chemical extraction processes leave vast areas of the planet completely barren and unable to grow ANYTHING?

The steel and concrete used in windmill construction also come from some of the most energy-intensive processes ever. Ever seen a solar or wind-powered earthmover, smelting furnace, or calcining kiln? Can a windmill honestly produce enough energy in its lifetime to offset the amount of energy it required to produce, install, and maintain it?
