If the temperatures drop below the freezing mark Thursday or Friday morning, the two coldest days in the National Weather Service's long-range forecast, it would mark an unusually early date for Muskegon's first freeze. According to the service's historical data, the average date of the first freeze in Muskegon is Oct. 11.
