Reading through the comments in the fraudulent NYT editorial, what stands out is that most of the comments are constructed along these lines :

We are smart, we believe the scientists
Republicans are stupid, they don’t believe the scientists
All of the world’s leading scientific bodies agree that climate change is the greatest threat to the human race

Most seem to have no idea who the “scientists” are. Most also seem to have no first hand knowledge of anything about the science. It all comes down to a hearsay driven belief in authority, coupled with inadequate intelligence to investigate or think for themselves.
