Major Drop in Solar Activity Predicted: Little Ice Age, part II? « JoNova: Science, carbon, climate and tax
Ominously, the embryonic markers of solar cycle 25 three years late and are nowhere to be seen. Scientists are asking if this could be the start of another Maunder-type Minimum. (The bummer with that, being that during those 70 quiet years the world slipped into the Little Ice Age; animals froze in barns, people starved, disease raged… see The brutal cold of the Maunder Minimum and the Great Irish Frost for some light entertainment.)Climate Common Sense: Green Energy Dominos Start to Fall!
The green energy bubble will surely follow in the footsteps of the dot.com crash as reality catches up with ideology and companies with no economic or sensible raison d'etre will fail. The rate at which this happens will be dependent on how quickly the governments establish proper priorities and shut off the flow of taxpayer funds to these parasitic companies which cannot function without their snouts in the public trough. The catalyst will probably be the 2012 US elections when the GOP looks likely to take the presidency and the Senate and the rest of the world will follow.Increased Congressional oversight by the GOP is already having an effect. The 420,000-Year Perspective - By Charles C. W. Cooke - Planet Gore - National Review Online
The recent collapse of the solar company Solyandra in the US taking with it a half billion of taxpayer funds has now been followed by the biomass technology company Choren in Germany with 300 employees.
The reconstruction to which the reader refers is a Watts Up With That graph that tracks NOAA temperature data based on Greenland ice-core samples. It shows the famed “hockey stick” within ever-widening time frames, starting with the last 500 years and eventually stretching across 420,000 years. When put in such a context, global temperatures are demonstrated to be cylical, and the “hockey stick” to be utterly inconsequential. More to the point, the graph shows a bigger problem: If we are to believe that the cycles will continue, we are ostensibly approaching the end of a warm period and heading back to glaciation.Al Gore: Building Solar Facilities Will "Put People To Work" | RealClearPolitics
