Overheated planet update: Montana now so searingly hot that the Going-to-the-Sun Highway stayed open an entire nine weeks this "summer"

Short season ends on Going-to-the-Sun Road | Kalispell, Montana
WEST GLACIER- You'll still be able to drive to Logan Pass the "long way" through the eastern side of Glacier National Park. But one of the shortest seasons on record for driving the entire road has come to an end.

The Going-to-the-Sun Highway closed to all through traffic Sunday night, clearing the way for construction crews to resume their major rebuilding work on the west side of the Divide.

The closure comes a little more than nine weeks after the highway opened to through traffic on July 13th. Extremely heavy snow this year made it the latest opening on record for the famous highway.
