Climate change a ‘catastrophic’ threat to global health - experts - AlertNet
A statement released by the group warns that dealing with climate change will further burden the world’s militaries and have “enormous” human and economic costs. April freeze takes big bite out of Central Coast grape yield
Despite yields many describe as only 40 percent of average tonnage, most Central Coast winemakers are optimistic about the quality of the 2011 grape harvest.

A devastating freeze overnight April 8 and 9, which killed many primary buds on vines’ green shoots, is mostly to blame for the sharp drop in grape yields, but a second year of cooler-than-average temperatures and spring rains also factor in, winemakers and viticulturists say.
