Climate-change policy is a mess, cement boss writes
There have been news stories in recent weeks questioning the B.C. government's policies on climate change and the Pacific Carbon Trust. Specifically, these stories have discussed the issue of schools and hospitals buying offsets in order to become carbon neutral instead of reducing their carbon emissions directly.
...
These stories point to the importance of getting climate policy right - not just for elites, activists and bureaucrats, but for scientists, educators, health-care workers and the private sector.

Climate-change policies now are designed without consultation, implemented unilaterally and rapidly and forced upon stakeholders without options or flexibility, leading to odd and uncertain results.
Denver 'Occupy' protesters prepare as snow looms - NOCO5 – News, Weather, and Sports for Northern Colorado
DENVER (AP) - About 30 Occupy Wall Street protesters camped in downtown Denver stacked blankets and sleeping bags near bags of charcoal on Tuesday as they vowed to remain in place through the season's first predicted snowfall, which was expected by Wednesday morning.

The National Weather Service has warned that up to a foot of snow could fall in parts of Colorado by Wednesday, but protesters seemed determined to stick it out. They've received briefings on winter camping and have put a plan in place to check each other for signs of hypothermia.
Environmental activism taints research | Australian Climate Madness
If it’s OK for WWF to be involved in the preparation of an alarmist report about Greenland ice sheets, it should also be OK for an oil company to assist with a report that challenges the consensus position.

That is clearly not the situation we find ourselves in today, which is more like “WWF – good, Exxon – evil.”

So, here’s the deal. Either vested interests (whether consensus or sceptic) should exclude themselves from involvement in scientific research altogether, or both sides must be treated equally. It has to be one or the other.
