Solyndra is a factor behind the field's laser-like focus on fossil fuels.
"I think what's shifted over previous years is people are really focusing boldly and confidently on fossil fuels, whereas in the past in public [the candidates] would have at least given more lip service, if you will, to renewable energy, to solar, to wind," Morano said. "I think they're sort of shying away from that, given all the scandals, given the collapse of the political narrative of green jobs being some kind of solution."
