Another way everyday folks can make difference is by becoming part of something bigger. Below is a list (by no means complete) of notable organizations that are doing some exciting things in the fight against climate change.

[comment] Federal funding of NPR is one thing. How about the money that comes from states, too? A bigger portion of the funding of NPR "news" programming is taxpayer money channeled through state universities, which operate the local stations. Each station is charged a "fee" of hundreds of thousands of $, and that money comes from the universities' general funds, which is taxpayer money.
