Hi Tom
How come you do not agree with a statement that says we are no where close to knowing where energy is going or whether clouds are changing to make the planet brighter. We are not close to balancing the energy budget. The fact that we can not account for what is happening in the climate system makes any consideration of geoengineering quite hopeless as we will never be able to tell if it is successful or not! It is a travesty!

Travesty seems to be trenberth's favourite word. And the admission that geoengineering may be impossible is excellent. The last thing we want is for these idiots messing with something they do not understand.
Ha ha - these messages provide some helpful evidence to identify the winner of "Who is the Biggest Sleaze" award.
Based on the messages I have seen, my rankings for the award winner so far are:
Mann (with no real close contender amongst the discussion group), Trenberth, Jones, Briffa, Santer, Wigley.
None of these can compete with Hansen, though, for the award. He's in a class all his own.
