Wow: One of my favorite all-time ClimateGate quotes is from Gavin Schmidt in 3343: "Frankly, I would simply put the whole CRU database (in an as-impenetrable-as-possible form) up on the web site"

Climategate 2.0: Schmidt — Make data available in ‘impenetrable-as-possible form’ | JunkScience.com

Now that’s good-faith disclosure.

From the Climategate 2.0 collection, NASA’s Gavin Schmidt and and Michael Mann’s RealClimate collaborator complains about persistent skeptics and finally offers a solution:

… Frankly, I would simply put the whole CRU database (in an as-impenetrable-as-possible form) up on the web site along with a brief history of it’s provenance (and the role of the NMSs) and be done with it.

This type of game is common for these people even without putting the "whole" data base up for public downloading.

When asked for raw data, assuming they have to comply, people like Gavin simply dump raw data at the request.

Unless someone knows how data have been interpolated or interpreted or fit to some function, the data themselves mean nothing - because it is impossible to know how the data were interpreted without being told (and that information is withheld).

So if anyone questions some conclusions, it is possible to claim that wrong methodologies were applied to analyze the data. It is not possible to demonstrate for anyone else to demonstrate otherwise.
