Brazil’s forest policy could undermine its climate goals - The Washington Post

Brazil, a leader on climate change and host of next June’s U.N. Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, is charting a climate strategy shaped by domestic politics and economic concerns that sometimes appears at odds with its international environmental rhetoric.

EU Referendum: A lack of rigour

The ultimate calumny though, is Plenty's assertion that in 2009, the Beluga Company used the route without ice-breakers. Yet – as the top photograph shows – the ships, sailing separately, were each escorted by a Russian ice-breaker. And they used the route because they were delivering pipline equipment to Siberia - not for the convenience.

Such details are easy to check. One wonders how Mr Plenty managed to assemble his letter without stumbling on them, raising questions as to whether he was being deliberately misleading. And as for the newspaper, had they asked Booker, whose work was being attacked, he could so easily have pointed them to the details which would refute Plenty's assertions.

Nothing New Under the Sun « the Air Vent

Sara Reardon was hardly alone when she wrote - “There’s nothing really new in a second massive cache of e-mails”, on the same day that the huge pile was released.  A “massive” cache with nothing new?….hmm.   Just how it is that she knew that is beyond me. But a lot of reporters seemed to teleconnect the same point made first by surReal Climate.  I have still read only a fraction (being tired of it) and today we have a unique new bit for the public.   Remember those august committees formed by the government to see if the  government might have screwed up?   Ya know, the ones who decided that the government funded people were innocent of wrongdoing?

Why We Are So Concerned About Global Warming | Real Science

We know that a cold climate (like Siberia used to be) is a better climate for living things than a warm climate like Hawaii. The weather in Hawaii tends to be very extreme, and few things can grow there. On the other hand, Siberia is quite verdant and the weather is always fine.

Seasonal temperature variation in Siberia normally stays within a range of about 170 degrees F, compared to about twenty degrees in Hawaii.
