Hi Michael [Mann],
I'm a DeSmogBlog writer [Richard LIttlemore] (I got your email from Kevin Grandia) and I am trying to fend off the latest announcement that global warming has not actually occurred in the 20th century. It looks to me like Gerd Burger is trying to deny climate change by "smoothing," "correcting" or otherwise rounding off the temperatures that we know for a flat fact have been recorded since the 1970s, but I am out of my depth (as I am sure you have noticed: we're all about PR here, not much about science) so I wonder if you guys have done anything or are going to do anything with Burger's intervention in Science.

Which raises two questions:
1. Who is Tom Nelson?
2. Does he believe that HE knows as much about climate science as Mike Mann?
(And for those weak on the concept of satire, that latter question was both rhetorical and facetious ....)
Yours very truly
Richard
Richard Littemore.
Tom and in fact most CAGW skeptics know a hell of a lot more about science than Little old you and the Garbage doom and gloom IPPC backers.
Skeptics like myself are well educated as well as being street smart, I can smell a con job a mile away. The garbage disguised as science that the likes of Mann have put out only proves my point.
Never mind the Climategate emails I & 2. How can you sleep at night with such disgusting disclosures or the money grubbing crowd at the flop called COP17 at Durban.
As for your DeSmogBlog all you ever do is blow smoke, so stick that in your alarmist pipe and smoke it!
By the way tell your buddy and boss money grubbing Dr fruit fly David Susuki the North pole is doing fine and so is Santa.
You Guys have no ethics or morals!
3. Does MIKE MANN know as much about climate science as Mike Mann thinks he does?
The best you could get out of that email was a PR guy saying
"but I am out of my depth (as I am sure you have noticed: we're all about PR here, not much about science)"
You ignore it when respected scientists complain in response to Richard:
"Thanks for the heads up on this. This is cherry-picking at its worst,
the sort of thing we have of course learned to expect from charlatans
like McIntyre. I guess its the flavor of the day in their desperate
ongoing disinformation campaign.
Gerd Burger did indeed publish a comment criticizing the process by
which proxy data were selected in the paper by Osborn and Briffa '06
reinforcing the conclusion that late 20th century warmth was anomalous in the context of the past 1000 years. But the Burger criticism was definitively rebutted in the response by Osborn and Briffa, which I have attached, which was published back-to-back w/ the criticism. The
rebuttal, in my view, settles the matter. The Osborn and Briffa '06
conclusions stand without modification."
I guess you know a bit about cherry-picking yourself?
Littlemore's two questions are:
1. An ad hominem attack,
2. An appeal to authority.
What a piece of trash. And there is no need to take Littlemore's second question facetiously, as he intends it. The answer is yes, anybody and everybody knows more actual climate science than Michael Mann, who knows absolutely nothing. His specialty is using statistical techniques to estimate paleo-climate from tree rings and other temperature proxies, an enterprise that he as proven himself at best utterly incompetent at, and that's all he's got. That's his entire body of work. Worthless from beginning to end. Nobody knows LESS than Michael Mann.
Who is Tom Nelson? One of the greatest sources on the internet for seeing who is saying what about climate. Good job exposing this Littlemore idiot Tom.
Breaking News: blogger ignorant of scientific minutiae and context checks facts before spouting off about it on internet SCANDAL.
Nice of Littlemore in the unguarded moment to admit befuddlement with temperatures which have been recorded since the 70's but continue to "move" up and down the scale depending on the mood of the author.
We'll make a skeptic of Dick yet.
To answer Dick's first question;
Who is Tom Nelson?
He's one of three guys (Steve Malloy, and Lubos Motl are the other two) an alarmist NEVER wants to meet across a debate table.
Richie, he's ten times the nightmare for a guy like yourself, who doesn't care about the science and who is only in it for a paycheck, than Lord Monckton was.
Remember how that one went, Ricky?
