The Ocean Is Not Getting Acidified | Watts Up With That?

The increase in CO2 is making the ocean, not more corrosive, but more neutral. Since both alkalinity and acidity corrode things, the truth is that rainwater (or more CO2) will make the ocean slightly less corrosive, by marginally neutralizing its slight alkalinity. That is the problem with the term “acidify”, and it is why I use and insist on the more accurate term “neutralize”. Using “acidify”, is both alarmist and incorrect. The ocean is not getting acidified by additional CO2. It is getting neutralized by additional CO2.

Biofuels leading to disaster « Climate Sanity

Biofuels, whose main purpose is to salve the delicate social conscience of environmentalists, is leading to starvation in the third world countries.  The all-caring, holier-than-thou, government-schmoozing elite environmentalists of western countries are inventing a new form a imperialism that leads to poverty or starvation in third world countries.

The New Nostradamus of the North: The dramatic impact of the shale gas revolution in the US

  • Shale gas had grown to 27 percent of U.S. natural gas production by 2010; it is currently 34 percent and will reach 43 percent in 2015 and more than double by 2035 to 60 percent
  • In 2010, the shale gas industry supported more than 600,000 jobs; by 2015 the total will likely grow to nearly 870,000 and to more than 1.6 million by 2035
  • The shale gas contribution to the U.S. gross domestic product (GDP) was more than $76.9 billion in 2010; in 2015 it will be $118.2 billion and will triple to $231.1 billion in 2035

Half of the lower 48 has been below normal temperatures this month, and half has been above normal. Newspaper reporters should really be required to pass second grade geography.

Climategate 2 and the FOIA/Mole Incident « Climate Audit

I and other Climate Audit readers were offended not simply by CRU’s refusal to provide data, but by the arrogance of an institution that had no compunction about fabricating excuses for non-compliance.
